Practical Tips for Playing Dota 2 for Beginners
Previously we discussed several Support and Carry type heroes in Dota 2 which are suitable for beginners to play. However, even if you have mastered these heroes, this is still not a guarantee that you will win every match mahjong slot.
The reason is simple: Dota 2 has many variables that determine victory. One thing that may often be forgotten is cooperation. But before you correct other people’s way of playing, it’s a good idea to introspect yourself first with the following 5 practical tips.
Eliminate the auto-attack habit
The term auto-attack has something to do with last hit, which in fact is the most important mechanism in Dota 2. Why should the habit of auto-attack be abolished? Because this will make it difficult for you to find as many last hits as possible.
The second reason, auto-attack will push your creep forward to the enemy’s tower. If that’s the case, your position will be at a dangerous point, where the enemy can more easily support you if you are too far ahead of the safe limit. Not only that, enemy heroes can farm more easily because they are always protected by their towers.
Get used to always looking at the minimap
The minimap at the bottom left corner is not without function. From the small map we can estimate where the enemy heroes are. When there are no enemy heroes visible on the minimap, it’s a good idea to retreat to a safe point. Why? Because it could be a sign that the enemy team is mobilizing to support one of your teams.
Always carry the Town Portal Scroll
Whatever hero you play, you need a Town Portal Scroll, an item worth 50 gold to teleport – even the Nature Prophet who has the Teleportation skill sometimes needs it. Why is this item important? Because it can be a savior when you are being chased by enemies. A little input on how to use it when being chased by an enemy: find a safe location first before activating it.
On the other hand, Town Portal Scroll can also be a life saver for your teammates. When your teammate is being ganked, you can immediately teleport to a nearby location and save him from death. Long story short, always leave 1 item slot for the Town Portal Scroll.
Frequently pick up runes in the river
The two runes located on the upper and lower sides of the river are very helpful for the team’s progress. At the start of the game, the Bounty rune will give extra gold to those who take it and activate it. Continuing to the next minute, there are the Haste, Double Damage, Invisibility, Illusion or Arcane runes, all of which can be used as tools to support the enemy.
These runes appear every two minutes. If you play in the mid lane, taking runes is mandatory. For those in other lanes, you can help remind them or even take them yourself before they are taken by enemy heroes.
